The ECL Authentication Project

The ECL Authentication Project will establish a neutral multi-stakeholder process to address issues limiting the acceptance and effectiveness of Ethical Certification and Labelling (ECL), with a special emphasis on developing countries and SMEs.This is what we call the ECL Space, which will provide guidance to ECL initiatives for improving market access and uptake, have adequate balanced stakeholder participation and deliver improvements in term of sustainable development.

Representation of the Rainforest Alliance in Switzerland. Advice to the Rainforest Alliance and the Sustainable Agriculture Network on internal processes related to certification and accreditation. (On going)

International Taskforce on Harmonization and Equivalence in Organic Agriculture - work on key definitions and potential role of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in harmonization of organic standards. (2004)

ISEAL
Strategic analysis and advice on standardization, certification, labelling, competition and trade policy. In collaboration with the Pacific Institute. (2004)

RCI
Responsible Commodity Initiative. Participation in the Responsible Commodities Initative, one of the projects of the Sustainable Food Laboratory. The aim of the project is to provide guidance and screening tools for food commodity certification, i.e aimed at large scale distribution. (2004)

WWF
Representation of WWF at the ISO process on environemntal management (ISO 14000 series). Advised WWF on the ISO Corporate Social Responsibilty standardization process. (1997)
