How to use the PathFinder
Welcome to the PathFinder, a series of instruments to support and empower multistakeholder working groups in developing forest certification standards.
What are the different pages in the PathFinder?

What kind of instruments will you find in the PathFinder?
        
The instruments are divided into three categories:

How to print instruments?
  • Printable instruments are in the pdf format, to keep the correct layout in all situations. To open pdf files, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be downloaded free from www.adobe.com
  • Please note that all pdf files have been formatted for A4 paper. The use of other paper dimensions may disturb the layout.
  • Colours have been chosen to allow an as clean as possible printing with black and white printers.

How to open the PathFinder?
  • The main support for the Pathfinder is a CD.
  • insert the CD in the CD reader of your computer. The PathFinder should open itself automatically. If it does not, open your favourite web browser and open the file “index.html” on the root folder of the CD.
  • The PathFinder will behave as a normal Web site, but external links will not work, unless your computer is connected to the Internet while using the Pathfinder.
  • The PathFinder can also be accessed through the Internet at www.piec.org/pathfinder
How to transfer an instrument to your hard disk?
  • Go in the instrument list, and right click (ctrl – click on Macintosh) on the instrument you wish to copy, choosing the “Save as” option. Please note that this method may change depending of your own configuration and the browser you use.
What are short presentations?
  • Each instrument or instrument series is presented by a short PowerPoint presentation. The purpose is to describe shortly what the use of the instrument is and help users make their choice of instruments, without necessarily the need to read the whole instrument. If the short presentation convince you that you need the tool, all long tools have an additional executive summary, helping you further in your decision, The intend is to make the use of, and access to the instruments as simple as possible.
